We’re Tami and Dan, the owners and artists behind Art in the Alley.
We didn’t start with clothing.
For years, we filled the store with only our own art: pottery, home decor, and other one-of-a-kind creations. Over time, that art evolved into the vibrant, expressive clothing Art in the Alley has become known for.
Our work is one-of-a-kind because we are one-of-a-kind. Expression sits at the top of our scale. We don’t want to look like everyone else and our customers feel the same way.
We believe that expressing yourself brings JOY. That wearing something unique gives you confidence. That feeling different feels good.

Every year we pack up our supplies and head to what we call “art camp” in New Mexico. It’s a stretch of sun, color, creativity, and total rejuvenation.
Creating under the New Mexico sun brings back the vibrancy, energy, and vitality that defines Art in the Alley. You can feel the desert in our colors, the light in our designs, and the warmth in every piece that comes home with us.
We may leave part of our hearts at the border, but Duluth is home. This community, this lake, this landscape is where we choose to live and share our work.
